Gwyneth Paltrow Ordered to Stand Trial for Skiing Accident: Latest Legal Trouble for the Goop Founder

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has been ordered to stand trial for a skiing accident that occurred in 2022 in Park City, Utah. Paltrow was skiing with her instructor, Terry Sanderson, when she allegedly collided with a man named Terry Mitchell, causing him injuries. Mitchell has filed a lawsuit against both Paltrow and Sanderson, claiming that they were skiing recklessly and caused him to suffer brain injuries, four broken ribs, and other injuries.

Lawyers delivered opening statements in a civil trial involving the actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, who accused her of violently crashing into him while skiing in 2016.

Paltrow has denied the allegations and claims that Mitchell was actually the one at fault for skiing out of control and colliding with her. Sanderson has also denied any wrongdoing.

During a hearing on Monday, Judge Michael H. Leavitt ruled that there was enough evidence to move forward with a trial. The trial is expected to begin later this year.

This is not the first time Paltrow has faced legal troubles related to her lifestyle brand, Goop. In 2018, the company settled a lawsuit for $145,000 over claims that it had advertised the unsupported health benefits of a vaginal egg. In 2020, Goop agreed to pay $145,000 to settle allegations that it had made unsubstantiated claims about a candle that was marketed as having "healing" properties
